New mothers in the state can now receive a one-time ₹13,000 cash bonus for each newborn with the revised Baby Bonus scheme which aims to improve the health outcome indicators of maternal and child health.
The state government has broadened its Baby Bonus scheme to help alleviate low infant survival rates, promote institutional deliveries, and ease the financial burden for families, and began the program to promote maternal and child healthcare. The scheme was launched in 2018 and now has a revised one-time bonus of ₹13,000 for each child born on and after 1st April 2025. The scheme also instills financial relief and boosts maternal welfare and early childhood support.
Eligibility and Application Process
To receive the grant bonus of ₹13,000, applicants need to meet the following conditions:
The mother has to be a resident of the state with a valid Aadhar card.
The baby should be born in a government, government-aided, or privately empaneled healthcare facility.
This scheme shall be applicable for a maximum of two biological children in the family.
Mothers can submit their applications through the online Mother-Child Welfare Portal. The documentation needed for the application includes:
Child’s birth certificate from the hospital.
Aadhar documents for mother and child.
Bank documents like a passbook or canceled cheque for DBT.subscription.
Once scanned documents are uploaded, the portal creates an acknowledgment receipt. Every claim is processed within 45 days of the submitted date.
